Privacy notice
This notice explains what AminoMembers collects through this website before launch and what we do with it.
Who we are
In this notice, "we", "us" and "our" mean Amino Member LLC, with its business address at 290 Green Ave, Lyndhurst, NJ 07071. We operate AminoMembers at www.aminomembers.com (the "site"). We decide how and why the personal information described in this notice is used.
What this website collects
Visiting the site. Our hosting provider receives your IP address, your browser type and the page you ask for with every request. We use this to deliver the site and to protect it from abuse, for example with a firewall and limits on repeated requests. Our hosting provider keeps these logs for a short period under its own terms. Our own application logs never record your IP address.
The waitlist form, only while the waitlist is open. Your email address, role, research area and shipping state, and your confirmation that you are 21 or older. If you choose to give them, your institution or affiliation and your ORCID iD. We also record the version of the consent statement you saw and the time you joined. We do not ask for your date of birth, documents, payment details or a password. Joining the waitlist does not create an account.
Abuse protection. To limit repeated sign-ups, the server turns your IP address into a keyed hash and counts attempts per hour. Our database never stores your IP address: the counts hold only the hash, and counts older than one day are deleted the next time the form is used.
How we use your details
We use waitlist details only to run the waitlist: to confirm your place by email, to decide the order of invitations (for example, an entry with an ORCID iD may be invited earlier), to invite you, and to tell you when membership opens.
We do not send any email yet. When invitations begin, we will email you a link to confirm your place, and only people who have confirmed their place receive an invitation. Before we send any email, we will update this notice to name our email provider and to say what confirming your place records.
We do not sell personal information for money or anything else of value. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use it for targeted advertising. We honor a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal from your browser as a valid request to opt out of the sale and sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising. Because we do none of these things, the signal does not change how the site works for you.
Who receives your details
Our hosting provider and our database provider process waitlist details for us in the United States. Our hosting provider runs a worldwide network, so pages may be served from servers outside the United States.
Messages you send us reach our mailbox provider.
We give waitlist details to no one else, except to authorities when the law requires it, for example under a subpoena or court order.
How long we keep them
We keep your waitlist entry until 12 months after your invitation expires or, if we never invite you, until 12 months after membership opens to everyone. Then we delete it or de-identify it. If you ask us to delete it sooner, we do.
Your choices and rights
Wherever you live in the United States, you can ask us what details we hold about you and for a copy of them, ask us to correct or delete them, and withdraw your consent to waitlist emails at any time. Write to support@aminomembers.com.
We confirm that we received your request within 10 business days, and we answer within 45 days after we receive it. If we need more time, we may extend this once by up to 45 more days. If we do, we will tell you within the first 45 days and explain why. We need to confirm that a request comes from the person whose information it is. We do not charge for requests. If we decline your request in whole or in part, our answer will explain why and how to appeal.
Every waitlist email includes a way to unsubscribe.
Age and location
The waitlist is for adults aged 21 or older in the United States. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 21, apart from the technical data that any visit to a website generates. If we learn that we hold personal information about someone under 21, we will close the waitlist entry and delete the personal information, except what the law requires us to keep.
Security
Connections to the site are encrypted. Waitlist details are kept in an access-controlled database: the website can add entries but cannot read them back, and the database holds no IP address. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that personal information will never be accessed without permission. If a security breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and the authorities as the law requires.
Changes to this notice
We post every change on this page with a new version. We will not use personal information we already hold in a way that is materially different from the version of this notice in force when we collected it, unless you consent or the law allows it.
